7-DAY TANZANIA CULTURAL & WILDLIFE SAFARI
Package Overview
This 7-day safari combines Tanzania’s classic wildlife circuit with an authentic cultural encounter rarely included in standard itineraries. Journey through the flamingo-lined shores of Lake Manyara, the endless plains of the Serengeti, the wildlife-dense Ngorongoro Crater, and the elephant havens of Tarangire with a unique day dedicated to meeting the Hadzabe and Datoga communities at Lake Eyasi. It’s a perfect blend of big game viewing, dramatic landscapes, and genuine cultural immersion.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Pick-up from your hotel in Arusha and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Spend the day on a game drive through the park’s groundwater forest, open woodlands, and along the shores of the alkaline lake — famous for its tree-climbing lions, large elephant herds, and flocks of flamingos. Accommodation: Karatu
Day 2: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti, entering via the Naabi Hill Gate. Enjoy a game drive en route to your camp, taking in the vastness of the plains and spotting resident wildlife along the way. Overnight in the Serengeti. Accommodation: Serengeti
Day 3: Central Serengeti (Seronera)
Full day exploring the Seronera Valley, the ecological heart of the Serengeti and one of the best year-round areas for predator sightings. Morning and afternoon game drives in search of lion, leopard, cheetah, and — depending on the season — the Great Migration herds. Overnight in the Serengeti. Accommodation: Serengeti
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater
Depart the Serengeti and travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive across its floor, home to one of Africa’s densest concentrations of wildlife, including the “Big Five” and resident black rhinos. Ascend in the afternoon and overnight on the crater rim or in Karatu. Accommodation: Karatu
Day 5: Lake Eyasi (Hadzabe & Datoga Communities)
Drive to Lake Eyasi for a cultural day unlike any other on the circuit. Meet the Hadzabe, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities in Africa, and join them on an early-morning hunt to learn their traditional bow-hunting and foraging techniques. Later, visit the Datoga people, skilled blacksmiths and pastoralists, to see traditional metalworking and beadwork. Overnight near Lake Eyasi or Karatu. Accommodation: Karatu
Day 6: Tarangire National Park
Depart Lake Eyasi and drive to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its enormous elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Spend the afternoon on a game drive along the Tarangire River, watching for elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, and a rich variety of birdlife. Overnight in or near Tarangire. Accommodation: Tarangire
Day 7: Tarangire Morning Game Drive – Return to Arusha
Rise early for a final morning game drive in Tarangire, taking advantage of peak wildlife activity. After breakfast, check out and drive back to Arusha, arriving in the afternoon in time for departure transfers or an overnight stay before your onward journey. Accommodation: Arusha
